Paul Lewis
A look into our creative world.
Paul's first sculpture in Austin. This piece will be on display at Portraits After Dark.
What began as curiosity became obsession. Clay offered Paul Lewis a way to bring order to chaos and gave shape to questions he hadn’t yet found words for. Paul began this journey in 2021 under the guidance of sculptor Philippe Faraut. He has studied classical sculpture in Rome, Florence, Girona, and most recently Athens, Greece, where he completed a six-month program under Robert Bodem and Valentina Zlatarova at Athens Sculpture Atelier.
These immersive experiences helped him fuse a technical, anatomical foundation with a poetic and emotional approach to form. Each of his sculptures begins with a desire to reflect both the strength and the vulnerability of being human, often invoking a subtle tension between serenity and unrest.
Lewis’s practice is deeply personal. Sculpture has become both compass and refuge, a way to process anxiety, purpose, and spiritual questions in an increasingly disoriented world. He is currently based in Austin, Texas, and spends time working in Oklahoma City. He is currently developing several public projects and has multiple shows planned for 2026.
Paul’s favorite place in Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where many studio days began with quiet reflection and meditation.
Creation starts long before the clay moves. It begins by sitting still, observing, and meeting the moment as it is.
A brief pause from the studio, Paul and his girlfriend, Thea, at a friend’s wedding in Mexico.
